Week
1 Assignments for
On-Campus IQPs
A central task of
the IQP is for you and your team to identify the core problem that underlies
your project, and then to develop and execute a plan that addresses this core
problem in a meaningful way. In the 21 weeks you will have spent preparing for the experience and also
on the actual project on site, you may or may not be able to completely “solve”
your project’s problem, but you are expected to contribute significantly to an
understanding of all the issues connected with it and to make substantive
progress in planning and implementing a solution. Understanding “what the
problem is” is not a trivial exercise: for some IQPs it is not unrealistic that
the main work of the project will be creating a clear understanding of
the problem. Almost all IQPs require that teams constantly revise their
understanding of the project problem as they learn more about the many
technical and social issues connected with it.
This is the first PowerPoint lecture
delivered at the mini-ID2050 class.
This is the INDIVIDUAL assignment for the week, usually
due on a Monday at 4:30pm in your advisor’s mailbox..
This is the TEAM equivalent of
Assignment #1. It is usually due by
email to the advisors on the day of the 1st PQP meeting (due time to
be announced). Bring a copy to the PQP
meeting for discussion.
