Portion of Canoe Map for Algonquin Provincial Park

Note the narrows between White Trout and Big Trout Lakes. We camped at one point at the tip of the peninsula at the end of the narrows opening into Big Trout. Grassy Bay, where the beaver lodges were, is show to the left of the map. Also shown is a small portion of the Petawawa River coming into the top of Grassy Bay from the left.

The Otterslides (lake and river) were hard to canoe because the river was narrow and meandered back and forth. Burnt Island Lake was beautiful. The Hartness group spent two days exploring the lake. Portages (in red) are marked with their lengths in meters.
